about

“I have set the lord always before me…” – Psalm 16:8

Our offering towards a compilation set to have been released by Daemon Worship Productions which never materialised.

“Phosphoros Pantocrator” was initially conceived in February of 2012 and entered a gestation period of fifteen months before finally emerging from its abyss in May of 2013. The title itself is comprised of the Greek words Φωσφόρος, meaning ‘Lightbearer’, and Παντοκράτωρ, which translates to sovereign, almighty or omnipotent; a term usually attributed to a specific depiction of Jesus Christ in Christian Orthodox iconography.

“Phosphoros Pantocrator” is a meditation on the illuminating and transcendental nature of Lucifer; the Fallen Angel who gifted Man with self-awareness. With this in mind, Lucifer can be viewed as Man’s dark redeemer and Messiah—as well as the spiritual ideal for which we strive. Perhaps one could even draw a crooked parallel between the Fall of Man and the martyrdom of Christ.

lyrics

Every fall is an ascent...

Phosphoros Pantocrator.

As the Lightning Flash, stricken from the Book of Life.
Excised from the Crown, cut from the unity of God.
Discarded into the cavernous Abyss,
The ultimate penance, the ultimate… Death.

But these knees will never bend.

Black martyr, empyrean Messiah.
Christlike in dimension.
Morose yet triumphant was your Fall,
The Abyss is your Golgotha, with Man as your cross.
Renounced by divine Judas.

Daimon Redeemer,
Monolithic shrouded Archangel.
Lurker of aeons; shadowside of Man.
Obsidian Seraph,
Fallen sun but son of none.

Appear, O Shining One!
Da’at as penumbral vestments.
Rise, O Fallen One!
Reveal Your formless visages.
Phosphoros Pantocrator.

Polished and honed to a mirrorlike shine;
I see myself in You.
